One of the longest will they/won’t they sagas in football has finally ended as Posh have employed Steve Evans as manager. For years Steve has fluttered his eyelashes at the club whenever he was unemployed or just before he signed an improved deal at his current club while Posh have nudged and winked about Evans, getting fans hot under the collar at the prospect of an experienced manager, before appointing someone cheap from within. But finally the stars align, as the vacancy finally came up while Evans was managing somebody lower down the pyramid than us.

Evans will cast a large shadow over London Road during his tenure, with his hunger for the club apparent for some time. Big decisions will be made over the future of current players while he will no doubt chew the fat with our Director of Football over potential new signings. Groaning under the weight of expectation from the fans, he’s no stranger to pressure after his time at Leeds. Known for his big spending it’s unlikely any belts will be tightened during his reign. “The club has great facilities, with the burger bar outside the ground, a pizza house behind the terrace and KFC across the road” he probably didn’t say in his first official interview.

The club have confirmed he has signed “a long term deal” at Posh, meaning he’ll stay until a Championship club shows interest then drop us like a hot rock.
